Craigslist continues to be the vice squad's best friend: Boston Police report the arrest of a Haverhill woman on charges she drove all the way down to Dorchester Saturday night to have sex for a fee after being contacted through a Craigslist ad.
Police report that after a plainclothes officer handed over money to do the deed at a Dorchester hotel, he feigned a change of heart and told her he couldn't do it. She left with the marked bills and she and a traveling companion were stopped on Morrissey Boulevard, where she was charged with offering sex for a fee and he was charged with operating a motor vehicle after revocation. Police did not specify which of the hotels near or on Morrissey Boulevard were used for the asation. Supposedly in their "Operation Cross Country" role "protecting minors from sexual exploitation".
The persons arrested, naturally, were both in their twenties.
Seems like a borderline misappropration of resources to me, but I guess as long as they occasionally bust some pimps who handle minors it would be a worthwhile endeavor. Have they ever busted any of these types of scumbags, as per their stated purpose? Or are they just making these fun and easy collars for a crime indoor prostitution that is actually legal in Rhode Island?
According to that article, the Boston FBI has rescued a "handful" of minors from prostitution in recent years. I guess they have to cast a wide net in order to do so.
Fair enough. They should keep an eye on the Mobil station on the corner of Albany St and East Berkeley- some of the women "working" around there look pretty young. One night a few months ago I saw an apparent pimp shove and spit in a woman's face down there. I called the cops, but I don't know whether they got him.
There have been rumors and reports of beatings and rapes in that area as well. Help keep Universal Hub going.
